NOMINATIONS FOR FRA BOARD ARE NOW OPEN

Nominations are now being accepted for those FRA Board of Directors positions that expire at the 2013 FRA Reunion in Wilmington NC to begin 14 August 2013, and end 17 August 2013. The FRA Board positions that expire are as follows:
Board President (Incumbent: Al Sniadecki)
Board Vice President (Incumbent: Jim Doner)
Board Secretary (Incumbent: Todd Smalenberg)
Board Treasurer (Incumbent: Elliot “JJ” Rubenfeld)
General Board Director (Incumbent: Board Director 'At-Large')
All current Bylaw requirements for FRA Board eligibility can be found under “ARTICLE V - BOARD OF DIRECTORS” in the FRA Bylaws posted on the FRA website under the link titles “ SITREP ”. The specific section governing nominations and member qualifications is covered in the following:
“Section 5.3: Director Nominations and Elections
Elections shall be held each year during the Annual Meeting. The Regular Members present at the Annual Meeting shall vote to elect those Director positions slated for election as formally presented by the Nominations Committee according to these Bylaws. All Board candidates must be Regular Members “in good standing” at the time of nomination and election. A “member in good standing” is defined as a member who has paid current all dues and any other financial obligations to the Corporation, is not currently under any disciplinary sanctions or penalties of the Corporation, and has not been convicted of any felonies or crimes or moral turpitude.”

GySgt David E. Grandin , FRA #1131 died Thursday April 18th 2013. Services took place on April 25th at Weicht Funeral Home, Angola, IN.

LtCol John H Cole USMC(ret), FRA Member 607, passed away Friday, March 1, 2013. The funeral service and burial will take place on Thursday, March 7 aboard the Marine Corps Base, Quantico, VA. The service will begin at 12:30 pm in the Marine Memorial Chapel aboard the base, the same chapel where John and Maureen were married 36 years and 10 months ago. You must notify the Marine on-duty at the gate know that you are here for a funeral. Allow extra time to get on base (you may need to go through the visitor entry and have a vehicle search). Burial will be at 2:00 pm.

Sgt Caleb M Medley, 1st Reconnaissance Battalion, Radio Operator, died Tuesday, February 26th, while conducting a military free-fall training operation in Perris, Calinfornia. Funeral services will be held at 1:00pm, Wednesday March 6, 2013, at the Burlington Community Center, 340 S. 14th St., Burlington, CO, 80807. Burial on Wednesday March 6, 2013, at Fairview Cemetary, 100015th St., Burlington, CO, 80807.

LtCol Patrick J. Ryan USMC (ret) , FRA member number 1, passed away Wednesday, February 13th, 2013. The Force Recon Association mourns the loss of our founding member. It is because of LtCol Ryan that the FRA strives to maintain and foster fellowship, comradeship and perpetuate the ideals and professionalism between and among its members and the members of our reconnaissance units, whether Force or Battalion Recon, Regular or Reserve. SgtMaj I. V. Long USMC(ret), passed away Sunday, December 23rd, 2012. SgtMaj Long retired from the Marine Corps after serving 30 years, through WWII, Korea and Vietnam in the 2nd Recon Bn.. SgtMaj Long's funeral was held on Friday, December 28th, at Greenlawn Memorial Park in Wilmington, NC.
